Ex-AOC Organizer Arrested After Threat Against Jewish High School

A former youth organizer who once volunteered for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional campaign is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly calling for an attack on Jewish students at a New York City public school, as reported by the New York Post.

Iman Abdul, 27, a 2016 graduate of Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, was arrested by the New York Police Department on August 9 after posting a threatening message online.

Authorities charged her with making a terroristic threat, acting in a manner injurious to a child, aggravated harassment, and making a threat of mass harm. She was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on November 19.

Abdul, who described herself as a “youth organizer” for Ocasio-Cortez during the congresswoman’s successful 2018 campaign, is accused of posting a Google Maps screenshot of her former high school along with a caption that read:

“If anyone needs a public school in NYC to attack for whatever reason … Lexus driving Israhell loving Zionisits all attend here.”

The post drew swift attention from classmates and law enforcement. One former classmate, Alina Bernstein, recalled that Abdul had been a well-liked student and was even voted “biggest flirt” in their yearbook.

“She was one of the popular students and definitely had a good time there,” Bernstein said, noting that Abdul performed in the school’s annual SING! musical production and “grew up in a mansion.”

Bernstein, who is Jewish, expressed disbelief at Abdul’s rhetoric, stating that her former classmate had more money than most Jewish students at the school and even drove a Range Rover.

She reportedly posted to her 25,000 on Instagram urging them to attack a Jewish school full of kids in New York.

Reports say she has now been arrested.

Bernstein also said Abdul labeled her a “Zionist bitch” and wrote online that “Zio girls always be the most p—y.”

In a statement to Fox News, a spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez said Abdul was never on the congresswoman’s staff and condemned the threatening language.

“Their comments are appalling and we condemn threats of violence without hesitation,” the spokesperson said. Critics, however, have pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez followed Abdul’s social media account among more than 3,000 others.

Abdul retained criminal defense attorney Geoffrey St. Andrew Stewart, the son of the late Lynne Stewart, who was convicted for aiding terrorist Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman in communicating with his followers.

The choice of representation has already raised concerns. “It is alarming that Iman Abdul has retained a high-profile attorney associated with someone who defended individuals accused of terrorism,” said Moshe Spern, president of United Jewish Teachers.

“The fact that she is out on no bail until November should be a significant concern for all New Yorkers.”

Abdul previously worked as a director of the AM:PM Gallery in Brooklyn, though the gallery has not commented on her employment status. She also appeared in a 2019 interview where she described her role as a youth organizer for Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign.

The online article featuring that interview was deleted following her arrest.

Neither Abdul nor her attorney has responded to requests for comment. Representatives of Ocasio-Cortez have not provided additional statements beyond their initial remarks.
