The family of an Ohio woman and her dentist husband who were shot and killed in their home in late December, said they were not surprised by the arrest of her ex-husband, according to a report, but remained silent during the investigation to avoid interfering with the case, as reported by The New York Post.
Monique Tepe, 39, and her husband Spencer Tepe, 37, were found dead inside their residence in the Weinland Park neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio, after being shot sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Dec. 30, police said.
Their two children and the family’s goldendoodle were inside the home at the time but were not injured.

According to police records, Spencer Tepe, a dentist, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. Monique Tepe suffered at least one gunshot wound to the chest.
On Saturday, authorities arrested Michael David McKee, 39, a doctor from Chicago and Monique Tepe’s ex-husband, in connection with the double homicide. McKee remains in custody in Illinois and is expected to be extradited to Ohio.

The day after the arrest, friends and extended family members of the couple gathered, and one relative spoke anonymously about the development.
“It was absolutely not a shock to anybody; we had all expected it, but we weren’t saying that, because we didn’t want to compromise the investigation,” the relative told the Daily Mail.
“We are all breathing a bit of a sigh of relief, because they got him.”
The unidentified family member said that, to their knowledge, Monique and Spencer Tepe had not reported any problems involving McKee in the weeks leading up to the killings.
Court records show McKee and Monique Tepe divorced following a brief marriage in May 2017. According to the Columbus Dispatch, the divorce was considered amicable.
Nearly a week after the killings, Columbus police released surveillance footage showing a “person of interest” walking down an alley near the couple’s home in the early morning hours on the day of the shooting.
At the time, family members reportedly dismissed the footage, suggesting the individual could have been “somebody walking home drunk from a bar.”
Investigators later traced a vehicle that entered the Weinland Park neighborhood around the time of the homicides and later traveled to Rockford, Illinois. Authorities identified the vehicle as belonging to McKee, according to the report.
Public records indicate McKee attended medical school at Ohio State University and holds medical licenses in both Illinois and California.
Since 2020, he has lived and worked in multiple states, including Virginia, where he previously resided with Monique Tepe.
McKee was employed as a vascular surgeon at a medical practice in the Rockford area, where authorities located his vehicle.

Police have not publicly identified a motive in the case. McKee remains jailed in Illinois and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday as extradition proceedings to Ohio move forward.
