Former White House spokesperson Ian Sams refused to answer a single question on Thursday about the cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s decline ahead of his appearance before the House Oversight Committee.
Sams became the eleventh former Biden official to testify to the committee in connection with their investigation into the cover-up of Biden’s physical and cognitive decline. He ignored every single question when pressed by a Fox News reporter on the alleged “effort to shield President Biden” or on the report released by Special Counsel Robert Hur in February 2024, which concluded that Biden was a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”
“Chairman [James] Comer said there was an effort to shield President Biden, do you think that’s accurate?” the reporter asked, but Sams remained silent. “He also is going to ask you about the Hur report, do you think the Hur report was accurate?” (RELATED: ‘Are You Disloyal?’: Former White House Adviser Refuses To Answer Reporter’s Simple Questions On Biden’s Cover-Up)

Sams played a pivotal role in the previous administration as a senior adviser for the White House Counsel’s Office and as a special assistant to Biden. He did not speak to reporters about his upcoming testimony despite spending years as a public spokesperson for both Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris when she launched her 2024 campaign.
Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer sought out the testimonies of Sams, former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and several other former officials on June 27 to provide “answers” on the cover-up. He told reporters ahead of Sams’ testimony that he expects the former official to have plenty of answers since he “had a lot to say” while he worked for Biden, according to Fox News.
“He had a lot to say while he was working for the White House, so I’m sure he’ll have a lot to say today. He was very vocal and very active on Twitter,” Comer said. “So, we’re going to ask him, you know, a lot of questions about what he would say publicly from behind the podium at the White House and what he would tweet about — and see if he still stands by a lot of those claims he made.”
In the letter seeking Sams’ testimony, Comer wrote that he was “the first line of defense to spin negative stories” about Biden.
Former first lady Jill Biden’s chief of staff Anthony Bernal, former deputy chief of staff Annie Tomasini and Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, all pleaded the Fifth to the committee. Other officials have testified that Biden’s advanced age did not prevent him from making his own decisions.
