A group of moviegoers were drenched in fake blood during death scenes in a screening of “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come,” according to footage.
Moviegoers got more than just a film — they got a full-blown, visceral experience during a special horror screening, according to a video gone viral on social media. The video showed an on-screen death was apparently matched with blasts of fake blood that sprayed onto viewers. The audience became part of the action and the bar for gore and immersive experiences seems to have been set very high, according to the footage.
The video showed guests appearing to be dressed in plastic ponchos while seated in the movie theater, but even though they seemed to know what might be happening, they flinched and jerked with shock as the blood splatter was unleashed onto them.
Some guests screamed, while others dabbed at the exposed parts of their bodies that were covered in the goop, according to the footage.
“Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” is the sequel to the 2019 film “Ready or Not.”
The video showed a scene where one of the characters appeared to be trapped beneath a man armed with a knife. Just as he plunged the knife into her, fake blood was splashed all over the theater attendees, prompting some to squeal and shout out, according to the video.
The original film featured a lot of bloodshed, so viewers knew what they were getting into, yet they still seemingly squirmed in response to the terrifying immersive experience. (RELATED: ‘Very Lucky’: Bert Kreischer Shares Horrific Bus Fire Image)
It’s unclear what location apparently hosted this dramatic screening, but it appears the next horror film has some big shoes to fill — just hopefully not with blood.
The film is set to release March 20.
