Fan-Favorite Harry Potter Actor Set to Reprise Role for Broadway [WATCH]

Actor Tom Felton has confirmed he will reprise his role as Draco Malfoy, 14 years after the final Harry Potter film was released, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Felton, 37, who portrayed the character throughout the eight-film franchise from 2001 to 2011, announced Thursday that he will join the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child later this year.

Felton made the announcement during an appearance on the Today show, saying:

“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, based on a story by J.K. Rowling and a script written by Jack Thorne, is set 19 years after the original series and follows the children of the core characters—Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco—as they begin their own adventures at Hogwarts.

The plot centers around Harry’s son, Albus, and Draco’s son, Scorpius, whose friendship and time-traveling decisions put the wizarding world at risk.

Felton’s Broadway run will begin on November 11, 2025, at New York City’s Lyric Theatre and is scheduled to continue through March 22, 2026. Tickets for the show will go on sale to the public on June 12, with presale access available starting June 10.

“It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes—and of course his iconic platinum blond hair—and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world,” Felton added.

“I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.”

Fan response on social media was immediate. Posts ranged from excitement to disbelief, with users writing, “Currently screaming,” and “Guess I’ll be flying to New York to see this now.”

Felton’s return comes amid additional developments in the Harry Potter franchise. HBO recently announced the casting of three child actors for the lead roles in its upcoming television adaptation of the series.

Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton has been cast as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will take on the role of Ron Weasley.

More than 32,000 audition tapes were reviewed before final casting was confirmed. Filming is set to begin this summer.

The show’s adult cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Emmy Olivier as Severus Snape.
