Father of suspect who allegedly killed Israeli Embassy staffers invited to Trump address by Dem lawmaker: report

The father of the antisemitic terror suspect who allegedly killed two Israeli Embassy staffers this week was invited by Democrats to President Trump’s speech to Congress earlier this year.

Eric Rodriguez, the father of suspect Elias Rodriguez, is a disabled Army veteran who was invited to the address by Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García, a Democrat, according to a press release published by Garcia on March 3, a day before the president’s joint address.

“Congressman Jesús ‘Chuy’ García (IL-04) announced today that his guest for the upcoming Presidential Joint Address to Congress will be Eric Rodriguez, a constituent of the district, resident of West Lawn, disabled Army veteran, frontline VA worker, and union steward in the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare Illinois,” the press release reads.

“Rodriguez works at Hines VA Hospital, one of the primary institutions serving veterans in the 4th District. He has been an outspoken advocate against attacks on veterans’ services and the rights of unionized federal employees,” it continues.

Garcia, to his credit, admitted to the New York Post this week that he’d indeed invited Rodriguez to the address.

“Eric Rodriguez was our guest during the President’s Joint Speech to Congress, but we don’t know his family,” he said.

In a statement published alongside the press release in March, Garcia at the time said Rodriguez “represents the very best of our community—someone who has served his country, continues to serve his fellow veterans and fights every day to protect the dignity of working people.”

Rodriguez was spotted a day later — the day of the joint address — in a video published by the Service Employees International Union identifying himself as an Iraq War veteran and Veterans Affairs Department employee.

“I’ve been with the VA for three years, and the reason why I’m in Washington, DC, is because I’m concerned about what Donald Trump, Elon Musk and DOGE are doing to the VA system,” he said in the video.

Rodriguez’s son, Elias, allegedly gunned down the two Israeli Embassy staffers outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., this Wednesday evening.

Staffer Yaron Lischinsky had reportedly been planning to propose to fellow staffer Sarah Milgrim sometime soon.

“A few months ago, Ms. Milgrim, 26, told her parents that she planned to travel with Mr. Lischinsky, 30, to meet his family in Jerusalem for the first time,” according to The New York Times. “What they didn’t know, and would only learn after the shooting, is that he had bought an engagement ring before the trip.”

As for Elias, on Thursday, he was charged in federal court with two counts of first-degree murder.

Prior to being charged, he yelled “free, free Palestine” during his arrest.

Elias is reportedly a longtime leftist activist.

“In 2017, he was photographed outside the home of former Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Chicago’s North Side, wearing a checked shirt and backpack, and holding a sign that read, ‘$ for people’s needs, not Amazon!’” according to the Times.

“The demonstration was organized by the Answer Coalition, a group that opposes war and racism. The group was protesting efforts from Chicago officials to convince Amazon to build a second headquarters in the city. The company ultimately chose the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington,” the reporting continues.

García, meanwhile, is now facing backlash on social media for having invited Elias’ father to Trump’s address.
