This gets me amped for vacation this summer! Hot damn!
If you’ve ever been to the Florida Keys to fish, you’re very well aware of the exotics that you can catch in those parts. Just ask this fishing crew, who found themselves in a five-hour fight with a fish so big, it was like they were in a war with a sea monster.
Captain Jose Rodriguez Jr., who is a native to Cape Coral and currently operates charters based in the Lower Keys’ Cudjoe Key, brought in a gargantuan swordfish recently that weighed a whopping 480 pounds. Originally, the trip was supposed to be eight hours, but it ended up turning into an all-day affair because of the battle. “We fought the fish for five hours,” said Rodriguez to WINK News. “We traveled over 14 miles just within the fight.”
Measuring from fork to lower jaw, the swordfish came in at 86 inches, while the overall length is estimated to be approximately 11-and-a-half feet.
You guys know how much I love South Florida, and you know how much I love fishing, and once again, the two will be joining forces this summer when I go on vacation. And this footage settles it, I’m going deep sea fishing to catch one of these bad boys!
And a marlin while at it, while wearing a Miami Marlins hat.
