Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker for the Florida State football program, was taken to a hospital in the Tallahassee area after being shot Sunday night. Placed in intensive care, Pritchard is in critical but stable condition, according to an announcement Monday from the university.
Pritchard was outside of an Havana, Florida apartment building in a vehicle when shots rang off Sunday night, around 16 miles from Tallahassee and close to the Georgia state line, per the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office via ESPN.
An investigation has been launched into the shooting and is currently ongoing. (RELATED: Jay Cutler Gets Jail Time In DUI Plea Deal)
Mike Norvell, the head coach of the Seminoles, stated Monday while speaking in his weekly press conference that he visited Pritchard’s family Sunday night at the hospital.
“It’s obviously an extremely tragic event for the young man,” said Norvell. “Grateful for all the medical support he was able to receive. Our football team, coaches, family are all here to support them. We’re praying for all parts of him and the journey that’s ahead. Definitely appreciate the support from everybody in the community that we feel.”

In their official statement, FSU said that Pritchard was visiting with his family when he was shot.
“The Pritchard family is thankful for the support from so many people, as well as the care from first responders and medical professionals, and asks that their privacy be respected at this time,” read the statement from Florida State.
Originally from Sanford, Florida, Pritchard enrolled at FSU in January, however, wasn’t active in the Noles’ season-opening win over Alabama.
