Florida teen texts mom he was shot, abducted by 4 ‘Hispanic’ men: report

There is a disturbing report unfolding in Florida of a minor white teen missing after authorities say he was shot — there are unsubstantiated claims that the teen was wearing a red MAGA hat.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was called to a shooting on Thursday, about 4:15 p.m. and found an older model pickup truck that belongs to Caden Speight, 17, of Citrus County, the Ocala Star-Banner reported. Caden was not at the scene and could not be located. The sheriff’s office said the teen had been shot and wounded.

“Caden Speight was last seen on September 25, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m., in the 12800 block of SW Highway 484, in Dunnellon,” MCSO said. “He was wearing a t-shirt and blue jeans. Law enforcement believes he may be with four unknown men, possibly Hispanic, who are driving a light-colored van. If you have any information about his whereabouts, or if you see him, please do NOT approach and call 911 immediately.

Speight is white, has brown hair, brown eyes, is 6 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. He was reportedly involved in a youth rodeo circuit. SouthEast Little Britches Rodeo Association posted a prayer online for Caden and his family.

A social media user said an early Amber Warning said Speight “may be wearing a red Make America Great Again hat,” adding that the detail was dropped from later alerts.

An Amber Alert shared by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) makes no mention of the hat:

Another user posted, “His parents own a blueberry farm called Simple Life. His social media shows he’s a big supporter of Donald Trump & MAGA. His parents claim they received a text from him yesterday at 4pm saying he was shot & needed help. Also mentioned 4 Hispanics and a van.”

Several circulating reports say that Caden was able to text his mom and tell her he was shot just before his alleged abduction.

ABC affiliate WCJB confirmed that the family does own the U-pick blueberry farm in the Dunnellon area.

Concern for Caden’s well-being flooded social media, as well as anxiety over the possibility that he may have been targeted for being a Trump supporter:
