Fmr. Maroon 5 Bassist’s Wife Files for Divorce After Teen Sexting Allegations, Physical Abuse [WATCH]

Kate Bowman, the wife of former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden, has filed for divorce just three months after their wedding, following allegations that the musician physically abused her and exchanged explicit messages with underage girls, as reported by The New York Post.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Bowman, a fashion influencer with more than 40,000 Instagram followers, filed the divorce petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday.

She cited “irreconcilable differences” and requested spousal support, while also asking the court to deny Madden, 46, any financial support. The filing did not list a date of separation, and it is unclear whether the couple had a prenuptial agreement prior to their May 6 wedding.

The divorce filing comes roughly two weeks after Bowman accused Madden of sending sexually explicit messages to teenage girls about a “rape fantasy” and physically assaulting her in their Los Angeles home.

In her statement to the court, Bowman alleged that Madden became violent after she confronted him about the alleged messages.

“He physically abused me. I’m now terrified of him,” Bowman stated. She claimed Madden grabbed her arms, slammed her into the kitchen counter, pulled her to the ground, and attempted to force her back inside the home.

Bowman described fleeing the house as Madden chased her barefoot and in his underwear. She alleged that he caught her at a gate, shoved her, and tried to drag her back.

Bowman further claimed that Madden found her twice in different locations and assaulted her each time before she was able to get away.

Her court filing included screenshots from doorbell camera footage she says document the incidents. Bowman wrote that she had “never seen that side of him” prior to the alleged altercations.

Following the confrontation, Bowman said she stayed with a friend and received apologies from Madden via text message and handwritten letters, in which he allegedly promised to seek treatment for sex addiction.

A Los Angeles judge has since granted Bowman a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Madden but denied her request to have him removed from their home. She has also requested custody of the couple’s Siberian huskies, Toast and Jam.

The former couple is scheduled to appear in court on August 20. Attempts to reach Madden for comment have been unsuccessful.
