Delonte West continues to face significant challenges off the court, with his post-NBA struggles showing no signs of abating.
The 42-year-old former NBA star was taken into custody Dec. 21, 2025, in Belle Haven, Virginia after allegedly robbing an individual of $23, according to a report from TMZ Sports.
The alleged victim reportedly identified West to officers from across the street after the incident took place. (RELATED: John Harbaugh Expected To Finalize Deal With New York Giants: REPORT)
Court documents reviewed by the New York Post indicate that the eight-year NBA veteran was booked on charges of assault and battery, as well as robbery involving the use of force.
He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Fairfax County court on Mar. 16, per TMZ.
The arrest represents the most recent in a series of legal difficulties for West. In Nov. 2025, he was allegedly discovered unconscious and intoxicated on the side of a road in the same area.

That episode followed a misdemeanor trespassing arrest in Huntington one year earlier.
Authorities took West into custody in June 2024 after he allegedly fled from officers who were trying to serve a warrant related to alleged violations of release conditions and resistance to arrest.
West has compiled an extensive record of legal issues since wrapping up his professional basketball career in 2015. (RELATED: Freezing Warning Issued As Rams-Bears Set To Be One Of Coldest Games In History With Negative 10-Degree Temperatures)
Selected 24th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2004 NBA Draft, West entered the league with considerable promise but was unable to consistently meet expectations during a journeyman tenure that included stops with the Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, a brief D-League stint and overseas play.
Receiving a bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2008, West has battled substance abuse and periods of homelessness in the years since. In 2020, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban stepped in to offer assistance after a widely circulated video showed West panhandling in Texas.
A proposed comeback attempt through Ice Cube’s BIG3 league in 2022 ultimately never came to fruition.
