Former NFL player escorted out of church by cops for making scene over priest porn accusations

A former Detroit Lions player was escorted out of an Ohio church by the police last Saturday after he made a scene.

Former Lions long snapper Jake McQuaide, who’s now a free agent, entered Our Lady of the Visitation in Green Township last Saturday and loudly confronted Archdiocese of Cincinnati Chancellor Jason Williams about rumors surrounding one of the church’s priests.

According to local station WCPO, last month, parishioner Todd Zureick filed a complaint with the archdiocese claiming that he and his wife had received pornographic images from Father Martin Bachman.

Speaking earlier at the church Saturday, Zureick described what he and his wife had seen.

“In late March, my wife and I received images from a laptop located in the parish office, operated by Fr. Bachman,” he said. “These images showed thumbnails to pornography sites and links to multiple virtual reality role-playing sites involving pornography, sexual assault, group sex, rape, and occult themes.”

The games included The Mortuary Assistant, Autopsy Simulator, Sex Hotel, Lust Hotel, and VR Secretary.

Williams responded to the rumors shortly thereafter by reading a letter from Archbishop Robert Casey addressing the allegations.

“Several concerns have been brought to the attention of the archdiocese,” the letter read. “These have been investigated, and no wrongdoing — either criminally or ecclesiastically — has been substantiated … consequently, like gossip, the spreading of rumors is sinful, and we should all work to overcome this tendency of our fallen human nature.”

After Williams finished reading the letter, McQuaide stood up from the pew where he’d been seated and cried foul:

“Please take a second. We want to put these rumors to rest. Can you answer this for me … fact or fiction,” McQuaide started saying before being cut off by somebody from the altar.

“This is not the time for this,” the unnamed person said.

“I’m sorry, sir, this is the time and the place. I will stand up,” McQuaide replied. “Did the priest use our parish computer to look at pornography?  True or false?”

“You can look at pornography at your house, but you cannot do it here,” he continued, adding that he himself had seen the pornographic content on the priest’s computer.

“I am not trespassing,” he then blurted out as two officers approached from behind him and began leading him out of the church.

Despite the Archbishop’s letter, an employee from her office confirmed to Zuerick that it’s still investigating the matter.

“It’s sad and embarrassing that the lack of institutional control and lack of leadership by our parish leadership has led to this,” Zureick told WCPO.

“A simple acknowledgement of the issue and taking responsibility would have allowed this to be handled with a scalpel in mid-April, but now it’s being handled with a hatchet. We love our parish, our school, and our community, and would never wish this upon our parish,” he added.

Yet publicly, the archdiocese has only doubled down.

“The allegation that Fr. Bachman used a parish-owned computer to view pornography is false,” it said in a statement. “Neither Our Lady of the Visitation Parish nor the Divine Mercy Family of Parishes has ever issued Fr. Bachman a computer.”

“As Archbishop Casey has stated, everyone faces particular challenges in life. Priests are no different. The archdiocese will continue to assist its priests and employees with their personal and spiritual growth,” the statement continued.

According to WCPO, hundreds of locals have signed a petition demanding transparency and leadership from Divine Mercy Parish and Schools, which reportedly includes Our Lady of the Visitation.

“We, the undersigned community members, parishioners, and school families of Visitation, St. Jude, and St. Joes, are deeply concerned about the current direction of leadership and decision-making within our parish,” the petition reads.
