Longtime Fox News host Steve Doocy announced Thursday that he will begin to co-host “Fox & Friends” remotely in Florida and in other places around the U.S.
Doocy said after getting up at 3:30 a.m. every morning for nearly three decades, he will be co-hosting the show remotely three days a week and travel across the U.S. The 68-year-old said the hours on his job “suck,” and expressed excitement about this change.
“After decades of getting up at 3, 3:30 and driving to New York City, today is the last day I will host this show from the couch. I’m not retiring or leaving the show, I’m still a host, but it is time for a change,” Doocy said.
The “Fox & Friends” co-host said that his upcoming travel will make him the “coast-to-coast host.”

Doocy became emotional as he talked about saying goodbye to all of his friends and acquaintances at the studio in New York City. He also said he plans to spend more time with his grandchildren, including George Jack Doocy, who was bornto his son, Peter, and daughter-in-law, Hillary Vaughn, in April.
The longtime host, who began co-hosting “Fox & Friends” in February 1998, said that Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott gave him the option to work remotely part-time. He said that while his children were growing up, he did not have the opportunity to eat breakfast with them because of his early hours at the crack of dawn.
“[His children] are already stocking up the fridge with formula and Chardonnay, which we call grandpa’s medicine,” Doocy said. “I will continue to join the couch crew for commentary. You’ve trusted me for all these years and don’t worry, you will still hear my voice and my opinions loud and clear despite when seasonal pollen is killing me.”
