National Guard troops arrived in Los Angeles early Sunday morning after President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum ordering the deployment of 2,000 Guard members to respond to escalating violence tied to ongoing anti-ICE protests.

The demonstrations began Friday following a series of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids targeting individuals in the country illegally.
By Saturday, unrest intensified, prompting federal action.

National Guard members deployed from San Bernardino County were stationed at the Los Angeles detention center where individuals arrested in the ICE operations are currently held.

This is an opportunity for @PamBondi and DOJ to make this the Democrats’ January 6.
Already the LA rioters have proven more violent than anything we saw on Jan. 6.

President Trump confirmed the deployment in a message on Truth Social, commending the Guard’s actions and criticizing state and local leadership.
“Great job by the National Guard in Los Angeles after two days of violence, clashes and unrest,” Trump wrote.
“We have an incompetent Governor (Newscum) and Mayor (Bass) who were, as usual… unable to handle the task.”
“These Radical Left protests, by instigators and often paid troublemakers, will NOT BE TOLERATED,” Trump added.
“Also, from now on, MASKS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to be worn at protests. What do these people have to hide, and why??? Again, thank you to the National Guard for a job well done!”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the Guard troops were specifically trained for civil disturbance operations.
“They will be with the public and be able to provide safety around buildings and to those that are engaged in peaceful protests,” Noem said.
Despite the presence of Guard members, violence continued into early Sunday.
Police used tear gas, flashbangs, and pepper spray in efforts to disperse the crowds.
Protesters reportedly hurled rocks, Molotov cocktails, and improvised explosives. Looting was reported in multiple areas.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, two officers were injured, and one protester was arrested while several others were detained.
California officials initially resisted the federal deployment. However, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli told the New York Times that local authorities had lost control.
“The state has an obligation to maintain order and public safety, and they’re unable to do that right now in Los Angeles,” Essayli said.
“They threw rocks at the officer. We had Molotov cocktails thrown. We had all kinds of assaults on agents.”
Tensions between state and federal leaders grew further Saturday night when Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton could be mobilized if violence persisted.
“The @DeptofDefense is mobilizing the National Guard IMMEDIATELY to support federal law enforcement in Los Angeles,” Hegseth posted on X.
“And, if violence continues, active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be mobilized — they are on high alert.”
The violent mob assaults on ICE and Federal Law Enforcement are designed to prevent the removal of Criminal Illegal Aliens from our soil; a dangerous invasion facilitated by criminal cartels (aka Foreign Terrorist Organizations) and a huge NATIONAL SECURITY RISK.

Governor Gavin Newsom responded sharply to Hegseth’s post.
“The Secretary of Defense is now threatening to deploy active-duty Marines on American soil against its own citizens. This is deranged behavior,” Newsom said.

Hegseth replied on Sunday, “Deranged = allowing your city to burn & law enforcement to be attacked. There is plenty of room for peaceful protest, but ZERO tolerance for attacking federal agents who are doing their job.”

He also shared an image of a burning vehicle and a protester waving a Mexican flag.
“Another ‘mostly peaceful protest’ brought to you by @GavinNewsom,” he wrote, followed by the word “DEPORT.”
This is Trump’s @nayibbukele moment.
He either activates the Insurrection Act and immediately ends this foreign invasion and war on American soil or he plays games with it like the summer of 2020 and it festers and hampers his second term.

Secretary Noem also criticized Newsom on Sunday, saying, “The president chose the safety of this community over waiting for Gov. Newsom to get some sanity.”

Newsom later shared a post from Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), implying the deployment was politically motivated.
“Trump isn’t trying to heal or keep the peace. He is looking to inflame and divide,” Murphy’s post said.

Donald Trump has manufactured a crisis and is inflaming conditions.
If he can’t solve it, we will.
