General Michael Flynn delivered a stark warning during a recent address, describing the current moment in American history as an “existential period” comparable to the nation’s most turbulent eras.
Flynn, who served as President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor and spent more than three decades in military and intelligence service, said the United States is facing threats both from abroad and within its own institutions.
“This period of time that we are in. I call it the third arc of US history, and we, we could lose this country, just like the American Revolution, just like the Civil War,” Flynn said.

He referenced historian Victor Davis Hanson’s description of the present as “a sort of a counter revolutionary movement,” driven by the rise of ideologies such as “communism, Marxism, Islamism, fascism.”
Flynn identified New York City as a bellwether for the country and said he plans to personally engage in what he described as a crucial symbolic battle.
“We’re about to see a radical Islamist become the mayor of New York City. That is a bellwether New York City,” he said.
“So I’m going to go up there tooth and nail and see what I can do to help. Because I’m looking at it. I’m saying, God, I’m listening to what this guy’s saying. But these are indicators.”

Drawing on his career as a soldier and intelligence officer, Flynn emphasized the seriousness of what he views as domestic infiltration by entrenched government interests.
“I fought for overseas for so many years, and I come back home only to find the greatest threat that I was going to face is right here at home against what we now, you know, everybody calls the deep state. It is an infiltration. It is an infiltration that’s been going on for a long, long time,” Flynn said.
He claimed that the strategic plan of entrenched interests was “eight years of Obama, eight years of Hillary Clinton, and there would be no such thing as the Gateway Pundit.”
He praised conservative media outlets for continuing to challenge mainstream narratives and for, in his words, having “stood the test of time and fought for this country.”
Flynn described the present as a “call to arms” in a metaphorical sense, urging Americans to recognize their personal responsibility in preserving the nation.
“We are in an existential period of time, and now it’s your responsibility, right? It’s your responsibility. So people that are watching online, people that are sitting in this audience, and people that hear this over the next month or so, or however we put this thing out, we have a responsibility as citizens of this country,” Flynn said.
He also addressed the frequent thanks he receives for his military service, stressing that citizenship itself carries an obligation to act.
“Everybody comes to me all the time. Lot of you in the military, thank you for your service. And they come to me and they say, Thank you for your service. We’re, you know, they kind of bow, bow to you, right? And I say, I’m humbled by that I love that it’s like, it’s a it’s a deep honor that I was able to serve our country and survive, right? And so what I do is I try to turn the conversation around to those that are coming in, because they usually say, I never served. My father served, my grandfather served. And I like say, look, how do you serve now? How are you serving this country now?”
Flynn emphasized that protecting the nation cannot fall solely on President Trump’s shoulders.
“We have a president of the United States that’s in there that is doing his damnedest to stop a couple of wars overseas, close our border, protect our citizens, stop this killing, killing by fentanyl on our streets of America, by the Chinese, all these things that he’s got going on, these juggling, all these crystal balls. It doesn’t take just him, right?”
He added that citizens must actively engage rather than assume the president can address every crisis alone.
“People come to me all the time and go, Hey, can you, can you get this to Trump for me? And I look at it, I’m like, What are you doing about it, right? I mean, what are you doing about it?” Flynn said.
