Daniels’ mother was also charged with speeding, obstruction of law enforcement, fleeing or attempting to elude police, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and two counts of failure to obey a stop sign.

Per the Commerce Police Department via FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident began when officers pulled over Daniels’ mother for allegedly not complying with a stop sign. At that moment, a vehicle driven by Daniels allegedly blew past the traffic stop at over 100 mph in a 25 mph zone through downtown Commerce.

Commerce Police Chief Jeffery Drossner stated the officers released Daniels’ mother and immediately pursued her son’s vehicle. The chase led police down several roads, which included Old Maysville Road, Maysville Road and North Broad Street. When they were on Maysville Road, authorities stated Daniels’ mother allegedly blocked an officer who was attempting to help in the pursuit, per FOX 5 Atlanta.

Officers maneuvered past the vehicle of Daniels’ mother and resumed the chase. The pursuit remained active on Interstate 85, but police lost visual of Daniels’ car around mile marker 144 and terminated the chase.

Later, authorities said officers pulled over Daniels’ mother after she caught back up to them and took her into custody, per FOX 5 Atlanta.

According to police, a University of Georgia football coach returned Daniels to authorities in the same vehicle he had used to flee, forcing him to surrender.
