‘Ghetto Dem Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett’ Breaks Down in Tears Live On-Air [WATCH]

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) became emotional during an MSNBC interview after receiving praise from outgoing host Katie Phang for her repeated attacks on President Donald Trump.

The segment aired as part of Phang’s “The Katie Phang Show,” which is being canceled as part of broader restructuring within MSNBC’s parent company.

Crockett, who has become a prominent figure on the left in recent months, used her appearance to compare President Trump to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a suspected member of the violent MS-13 street gang who was deported to El Salvador on March 15.

“As far as I’m concerned, he’s a lot less criminal than the person is in the White House,” Crockett said, referring to Abrego Garcia.

“The last time I checked, he didn’t have any criminal convictions. I don’t think he has any outstanding cases, versus the guy that still had cases pending when he was sworn in on January 20 and also has 34 felony convictions.”

Abrego Garcia was previously identified by an immigration judge as a confirmed member of MS-13, a transnational gang involved in a wide range of criminal activity, including drug trafficking, human smuggling, and murder.

Documents released by the Trump administration have linked Garcia to senior members of an MS-13 clique operating in Maryland.

Despite those findings, Crockett argued that President Trump’s criminal case in Manhattan — which is currently under appeal — represents more serious conduct.

“So listen, I don’t want to hear anything from the Republican Party about how they try to keep us safe when their fearless leader is actually the biggest criminal thus far that we have seen,” Crockett said.

Following her remarks, host Katie Phang played a clip from Crockett’s first appearance on the show before praising her contributions.

Phang’s show is scheduled to end as part of a network shakeup.

“This is the second to the last episode of the show. Congresswoman, I wanted to thank you for always getting up and early and delivering it,” Phang said.

“But I also want to say thank you for your continuing support for democracy. It’s definitely something that you have made your brand and it’s the integrity that you’re bringing. And I’m grateful for you always. We’ll miss you.”

Crockett became emotional during the exchange and was unable to respond at the end of the segment.

MSNBC announced the cancellation of “The Katie Phang Show” earlier this month.

It follows the cancellation of another primetime program, “The Reid Out,” hosted by Joy Reid.

The moves come amid a larger reorganization by Comcast, which plans to merge several of its cable assets — including MSNBC, CNBC, and the USA Network — into a new, publicly traded company.

According to Comcast President Mike Cavanagh, the new entity will also include Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and the Golf Channel.

NBCUniversal will retain assets such as NBC News, the Peacock streaming platform, the NBC broadcast network, and Bravo.

“The transaction will be structured as a tax-free spin to existing shareholders,” Cavanagh said in a memo to staff.

“While we don’t have a precise timetable for completing the transition, we are estimating that it will take approximately a year.”

Crockett’s comparison of President Trump to a known gang member, and her emotional response to praise on air, quickly circulated online and drew criticism from political opponents.

The remarks are the latest in a series of controversial statements from the freshman congresswoman, who has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration and Republican leadership.
