Ghislaine Maxwell given limited immunity, jockeys for ‘relief’ as she gives up 100 Epstein-linked names

Deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, has begun singing now that she’s received some immunity.

This week, she “answered questions” from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche “for about nine hours over two days after being granted a limited form of immunity,” as reported by ABC News.

The immunity, known as a proffer agreement, allows a defendant to “essentially incriminate themself by openly talking about both their role in and their knowledge of the crime committed,” according to the law firm of Oberheiden P.C.

In exchange for speaking, the defendant may then receive “several important benefits,” including but not limited to “a favorable, less severe sentencing recommendation.”

Though in the case of Maxwell, her lawyers have said she wanted nothing.

“We haven’t asked for anything,” attorney David Markus told ABC News. “This is not a situation where we are asking for anything in return for testimony or anything like that. Of course, everybody knows Ms. Maxwell would welcome any relief.”

Indeed, during her deposition, her attorneys brought up the prospect of a full-on pardon, according to Fox News:

In singing, Maxwell named over 100 potential perpetrators, Markus told reporters on Friday.

“I think Ghislaine did a wonderful job. She literally answered every question,” he said. “She didn’t say, ‘You know what, don’t ask me that, I’m not gonna talk about this person.’”

“She was asked maybe about 100 different people, she answered questions about everybody, and she didn’t hold anything back,” he added.

He also stressed that Maxwell wanted to tell the full truth.

“She wants to tell the truth, because the truth can be corroborated or disproven,” he said. “If she lies, they can charge her with lying.”

Asked on Friday about the prospect of a pardon, President Donald Trump, for his part, dismissed the idea.

“I’m allowed to do it, but it’s something I have not thought about,” he told reporters.

Markus was hopeful after the comments from the president.

“We haven’t spoken to the president or anyone about a pardon just yet. And listen, the president this morning said he had the power to do [a pardon], so we hope he exercises that power in the right and just way,” he told ABC News.

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 on child sex trafficking charges related to her procurement of underage girls for her former boss, Epstein, and then reportedly shipped off to a cozy prison.

During her trial, she refused to testify, making her recent “testimony” to Deputy Attorney General Blanche that much more important.

What comes next is potential testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Aug. 11. courtesy of a subpoena from committee chair James Comer.

“While the Justice Department undertakes efforts to uncover and publicly disclose additional information related to your and Mr. Epstein’s cases, it is imperative that Congress conduct oversight of the federal government’s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of you and Mr. Epstein,” Comer wrote in the subpoena.

“In particular, the Committee seeks your testimony to inform the consideration of potential legislative solutions to improve federal efforts to combat sex trafficking and reform the use of non-prosecution agreements and/or plea agreements in sex-crime investigations,” he added.

“We have to make a decision about whether she will do that or not,” Markus told reporters Friday. “That’s been scheduled for the week of August 11th and we haven’t gotten back to them on whether we’ll do that.”
