Good Guys With Guns Help Stop Palestinian Terror Attack

Two men, including one civilian, halted the deadly terrorist attack committed by Palestinian gunmen in Jerusalem Monday.

The attackers opened fire on civilians at a bus stop, killing at least six people and injuring several others, according to officials.

“I was at the junction and heard gunfire,” a sergeant with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, according to Ynet Global. “I ran out to the bus stop and saw the terrorists. A few civilians and I identified them and opened fire until we saw they were fully neutralized, then we moved in to help the wounded. I’m glad I was able to do it.” (RELATED: Israel Tells Palestinians In Gaza City To Head For Safer Ground)

The sergeant is a member of the recently formed ultra-Orthodox Hasmonean Brigade, founded in 2024 to allow ultra-Orthodox men to serve in the IDF while maintaining their religious lifestyle.

One of the civilians who helped the sergeant neutralize the gunmen was a yeshiva student carrying a pistol inherited from his grandfather, according to Ynet Global. His grandfather was a police volunteer.

The student, a local resident, was recently granted a firearm license under residency-based criteria, the outlet reported.

After the gunmen were stopped, the student gave his testimony to police.

“He was on his way to yeshiva. He emptied the magazine on the terrorists,” his brother-in-law stated, according to Ynet Global.

Col. Avinoam Emunah, commander of the Hasmonean Brigade, said the actions of his sergeant serve as “further proof of the great significance of establishing the brigade and training Haredi fighters to bear arms, to be ready for combat and to neutralize any threat wherever it appears,” the outlet reported.

The suspected attackers were identified as Muthana Amro and Muhammad Taha, according to Ynet Global.
