GOP lawmakers move to blacklist James Comey from ever holding another federal gig

Hocking fiction might be all disgraced former FBI Director James Comey can do should a new GOP resolution pass, aiming to hold him accountable for “alleged incitement of violence.”

While leftist talking heads dutifully lined up to defend Comey’s post to “86 47,” that even he knew to delete, and a U.S. Secret Service investigation was underway about the “potential threat” to President Donald Trump, the Republican Study Committee sought to assure the former G-man could never work in government again.

As such, committee chair Texas Rep. August Pfluger and member Florida Rep. Laurel Lee introduced a resolution promoting accountability and blacklisting Comey from the federal government payroll.

“The deranged and reckless social media post from former FBI Director James Comey represents a shocking betrayal of trust once placed in him by the American people,” said the chairman. “Having failed in his attempts to take down President Trump as one of the main architects of the Russia collusion hoax, Comey has now resorted to the unthinkable: calling for violence against our Commander-in-Chief.”

The resolution itself urged “the relevant authorities to take every relevant action to ensure that Mr. Comey is never again permitted to serve as an employee of the Federal Government,” and asserted, “Congress must take all available action to hold Director Comey accountable, preserve the rule of law, and protect our legal institutions from those that seek to sow discord and promote violence against their political opponents.”

Pfluger went on to say, “That someone who once held one of our nation’s most sacred positions of law enforcement would incite such dangerous rhetoric is not just alarming–it’s disqualifying an un-American. This resolution demands the accountability and transparency the American people deserve, ensuring Comey never again holds a position of public trust. We cannot and will not allow former officials to weaponize their influence and fan the flames of division.”

Likewise, Lee said in part, “The American people deserve equal justice–not selective outrage. If we are to preserve the rule of law, then even those who once led law enforcement must be held accountable.”

Days before the release of his next book, Comey posted — then deleted — an image of seashells arranged to read “86 47.” While he went on to claim ignorance that anyone would “associate those number with violence of any kind,” the Secret Service was not nearly as dismissive as he was.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had posted Friday that “federal agents from @SecretService interviewed disgraced former FBI Director Comey regarding a social media post calling for the assassination of President Trump. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of @POTUS Trump. This is an ongoing investigation.”

Further, Jonathan Wackrow, a former Secret Service agent, had affirmed the need for an investigation as he told CNN, “So these, in this moment in time, these types of actions are very, very dangerous.”
