The leftist phobia of firearms has reached new lows with legislation signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Newsom signed AB 1127, dubbed the “Glock Ban,” into law on Friday, sparking outrage among Second Amendment enthusiasts for banning “the most popular firearm in the country.”

According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the new law will take effect beginning July 1, 2026.
“Current owners of affected Glock pistols would not be forced to surrender them, nor would private sales be outright banned under the initial language. But new purchases would be prohibited,” their member alert reads.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) responded to the legal update with the ominous promise to “see you in court.”

The law was crafted as a response to the use of “Glock switches” to modify the handgun into a fully automatic firearm. These “switches” are effectively a hard piece of plastic placed on the rear of the slide to alter its fire rate, and has already been federally prohibited. Unfortunately, this particular type of illegal modification is popular among criminals and gang members, with whom California has quite a problem. Essentially, this law just makes them even more illegal by using the mental gymnastics of labeling the firearms “machinegun-convertible pistol[s].”
“A ‘machinegun-convertible pistol’ as any semiautomatic pistol with a cruciform trigger bar that can be readily converted by hand or with common household tools into a machinegun by the installation or attachment of a pistol converter, as specified, and ‘pistol converter’ as any device or instrument that, when installed in or attached to the rear of the slide of a semiautomatic pistol, replaces the backplate and interferes with the trigger mechanism and thereby enables the pistol to shoot automatically more than one shot by a single function of the trigger,” the legislation’s text reads.

He also signed a bill to require background checks for gun barrels (yes, barrels), and to limit gun purchases to 3 in 30 days (since the 1-in-30 was rightly shot down).
