EXC: Government Officials Spent £86,000 on Flights and Hotels to Surrender Chagos
Guido’s FOI Unit can reveal that civil servants racked up a £85,934.14 total expense bill while negotiating the Chagos surrender deal. Between 4 July and 22 May – the day of the giveaway – Foreign Office officials spent £79,253.31 on flights, £3,557.95 on hotels, and £3,122.88 on “other expenses”, including food and taxis.
