Government Renames Welfare Bill to Remove Reference to PIP

The short title of the gutted welfare bill used to be: “the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Act 2025.” An amendment from Liz Kendall has issued an alteration: ‘leave out “and Personal Independence Payment”.’ The short title of the bill is now: “the Universal Credit Act 2025.” That makes sense seeing as changes to PIP were completely rolled back on by a defeated Downing Street.
