Grab Some Popcorn: Liberal On Liberal Violence Set To Explode Outside Chicago In 9th Congressional District

Tuesday is quite an exciting day for conservatives who enjoy watching Democrats snipe and bicker at each other.

Voters outside Chicago, Illinois, will head to the polls for the 9th Congressional District’s Democratic primary. The race is shaping up to be a two-candidate finale, and behind the scenes, it is pitting two factions of left-wing Democrats against each other.

Over in one corner, we have the anti-Israel, American TikTok influencer Kat Abughazaleh, who has run a very online, social media-oriented campaign geared toward the youth vote. Her father is Palestinian-American. Notably, ICE agents arrested Abughazaleh at a protest in September 2025, not before bodying her to the ground. It was a viral moment that won the plaudits of young progressive activists, but might otherwise have caused functioning, employed adults to go, “Huh?” (RELATED: Democratic Congressional Candidate Gets Bodied By ICE Officers After Trying To Interfere With Them)

In the other corner, we have Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss, a Jewish American and grandson of a Holocaust survivor who might come across as the more boring of the two candidates, but touts a very liberal agenda on his campaign site. Biss happens to be facing a last-minute “MeToo” cancellation push from the left, but who knows if that faux scandal will even register with non-online voters. Interestingly, though, Biss and Abughazaleh were spotted cozying up in a booth over some post-debate drinks back in February. Make of that what you will, but I personally find it utterly bizarre. Recent polls show that Biss is still the front-runner, but that Abughazaleh is well within striking distance.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, a mini endorsement battle is playing out between two liberal factions that are usually on the same side.

“Squad” Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib have endorsed Abughazaleh in the final hours of the campaign.

“Kat Abughazaleh is a young Palestinian woman who represents the kind of fearless, principled leadership our country needs right now,” Tlaib, who happens to be the first Palestinian-American to serve in the House, said in a statement. “She will fight for working people and bring the next generation of leadership to Congress.”

Abughazaleh had also picked up endorsements from Democratic California Rep. Ro Khanna and various left-wing grassroots organizations.

On the Biss side, several powerful Democrats have lined up in support. Among them are Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairman Greg Casar of Texas, and “Squad” Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington.

Warren even hit the campaign trail with Biss at an event in Evanston on Friday.

“It is time to have more fighters in Washington who are focused on an America that works — not just for a handful at the top, but works for everyone — and that is why I am in this fight for Daniel Biss,” she said.

Considering there is a lot of outside money sloshing around in this race, anticipate many an angry debate among liberals over who is to blame, who had the better message, and who was sabotaged by dark money, etc., once the results and exit polls are tallied.
