Hamas holds public executions in the streets hours after ceasefire agreement

Hamas’ true colors were on display once more as public executions came within hours of the historic Middle East peace agreement.

Prior to President Donald Trump’s achievement in the region, Hamas sympathizers had often placed the onus of a ceasefire on Israel, negating the fact that the Jewish State had been the victim of the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack. Monday, Hamas’ brutality was on display again when, at a time that world leaders had gathered to celebrate peace, video captured the public execution of eight men in the streets of Gaza.

Video circulating on social media captured the scene as bound men were aligned in the street and held at gunpoint before the masked executioners opened fire, continued to shoot the victims even after they’d collapsed to the ground.

BBC Verify confirmed that the videos of the public executions are authentic and reported, “The videos show several men with guns line up eight people whose arms are tied behind their backs. They are in a public square surrounded by a large crowd.”

“Moments later, the gunmen open fire, killing all eight. Shouts of Allahu Akbar — God is greatest in Arabic — can be heard from the crowd as the gunmen stand over the bodies,” continued the report as Hamas asserted they would continue public executions.

While the BBC neither shared the video nor reported on the identities of those shot, Israeli outlet Ynet News had detailed that one of the men was Ahmad Zidan al-Tarabin, a recruiter for Abu Shabab, a militia rival of Hamas. According to a statement from the terrorist group reported by the BBC, the executed men were “criminals and collaborators with Israel.”

The latest violence in the war torn area followed reports that 52 members of the Doghmush clan were killed fighting with Hamas, while 12 members of the terrorist organization were killed in the clashes on Sunday.

Ynet also quoted Hossam al-Astal, head of the al-Mujaida clan in the Gaza city of Khan Younis, who contended that a weakened Hamas “no longer holds significant power.”

Meanwhile, as Trump had traveled from Washington, D.C. to Israel as part of his whirlwind trip to the Middle East, he’d been asked about Hamas acting as a “Palestinian police force” in Gaza. To that, the president responded that, “[Hamas] do want to stop the problems, and they’ve been open about it, and we gave them approval for a period of time.”

Acknowledging estimates of 60,000 deaths in Gaza, referring to it as “a lot of retribution,” Trump went on to assert, “You have close to 2 million people going back to buildings that have been demolished, and a lot of bad things can happen. So we want it to be — we want it to be safe. I think it’s gonna be fine. Who knows for sure.”
