Handcuffed Woman Crawls Out Police Car Window, Still On The Run [WATCH]

Authorities in Michigan are searching for a woman who escaped police custody after slipping out of a patrol vehicle while handcuffed, according to officials and video footage that has since circulated widely online, as reported by The New York Post.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon in Muskegon Heights, where a police officer initially encountered a vehicle parked at an abandoned business.

According to ABC13, officers approached the vehicle and were able to identify the driver, but were unable to immediately identify a female passenger inside the car.

Police used a fingerprint scanner to confirm the woman’s identity, at which point they discovered she had an outstanding parole violation.

She was arrested at the scene, placed in handcuffs, and secured in the back seat of a patrol vehicle.

Video later posted on social media shows the woman seated in the rear of the cruiser, dressed in black clothing, looking out of a partially lowered window.

The footage shows her appearing to check her surroundings before attempting an escape.

The woman then maneuvered herself headfirst through the window opening, despite being handcuffed behind her back. She lowered one leg to the ground and managed to slip completely out of the vehicle before landing on the street.

The video shows her immediately sprinting away from the cruiser and running up a nearby road. During the escape, officers in the vicinity appeared to be focused on a white pickup truck parked near two police vehicles.

They did not immediately notice that the detainee had fled.

Moments later, an officer approached the rear of the patrol vehicle and tapped on the window, only to realize the woman was no longer inside. The discovery prompted a search for the suspect.

As of late Monday afternoon, authorities said the woman had not been located and remains at large. The Muskegon Heights Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Later on Saturday, a local resident reported that someone attempted to break into their home at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Police believe the same woman who escaped from the patrol vehicle is a suspect in that attempted home invasion, which occurred less than an hour after her escape.

Officials said the woman now faces additional charges, including fleeing a police officer and felony home invasion, on top of the original parole violation that led to her arrest.

Authorities also indicated that they are in the process of seeking additional arrest warrants related to the incident. Those potential charges include escape, breaking and entering, and larceny.

The video of the escape has drawn significant attention online, with viewers focusing on how the woman was able to exit the vehicle unnoticed despite being in custody and restrained.
