Former Vice President Kamala Harris suggested she’s not completely against the idea of running for president in the future.
She told the BBC in an interview that will air Sunday that she is “not done” with politics just yet.
“I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones,” she said.
She said she would “possibly” be president one day and that she was confident that America would see a female president in the future.
Ms. Harris was the Democratic presidential nominee after former President Joseph R. Biden dropped out of the race in 2024, but lost to President Trump.
She says she hasn’t decided whether she’ll run in 2028.
“There are many ways to serve,” she said. “I’ve not decided yet what I will do in the future.”
She dismissed polls that suggest she’s well behind in the 2028 race, saying, “If I listened to polls, I would have not run for my first office, or my second office — and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here.”
Ms. Harris is on her book tour promoting her recently released “107 Days,” about her experience running for president.
She’s been using the tour as a way of “talking and mostly listening with folks” and getting them ready for the midterm elections next year, she said previously in an interview with The Associated Press.
She told AP last week that Democrats “are doing the right thing by standing up for working people and not allowing the Republicans to carry a tax cut for the wealthiest people in our country on the backs of working people in America.”
She added she still sees herself as the “leader of the party.”
“I take seriously that responsibility and duty that I feel” as the previous Democratic presidential nominee.
