Get ’em, Phil!
Legendary golfer Phil Mickelson blasted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., doing so in a Wednesday social media post after the senator’s ridiculous criticism of the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
Schumer threw out his criticism towards the GOP-backed legislation Wednesday. It passed in the House of Representatives in April. If it goes all the way through and becomes law, it will require voters to get proof of citizenship in person prior to them registering for a nationwide election.
Noncitizens would also be taken off of voter rolls.
Schumer knocked both the Trump administration and SAVE Act, labeling it as the “antithesis of democracy.” (RELATED: Pick For US Captain Of 2026 Presidents Cup Isn’t The Sexiest, But Could Prove To Be Effective)
“Donald Trump and Republicans are putting our elections in a vice grip — executive orders from the president on one end, and dangerous legislation from Congress on the other,” said Schumer in his speech. “They don’t understand the sacredness of elections and keeping them fair. The kind of legislation, the kind of executive orders which are so jaundiced, so slanted on the side of one party, are the antithesis of democracy.”
In footage of Schumer’s speech that was published on Twitter by Mickelson, the senator branded the bill as “dangerous” and “reminiscent of Jim Crow.”
Yeah, Mickelson wasn’t playing that, shooting back in a post where he called Schumer a “traitor.”
“How is this fighting for Americans? How is letting non citizens vote in American elections a good thing? It is NOT,” wrote Mickelson. “He is not representing America, its citizens nor their best interests. He’s a traitor.”
