Hero Bystander Stops Gunman Cold During Wild Alaska State Fair Brawl [WATCH]

A violent brawl involving multiple individuals at the Alaska State Fair was brought under control Monday after a bystander intervened and disarmed a man who pulled out a handgun during the altercation.

The incident unfolded in front of crowds of families and fairgoers. Witnesses say the fight escalated quickly, with as many as eight people involved before the weapon was brandished.

Video of the confrontation later went viral, showing the moment a bystander stepped in to prevent potential tragedy.

That bystander, identified as 24-year-old Jaden Perry, told KTUU that he reacted immediately when he saw the gun.

“The first thought that went through my head is there are kids everywhere,” Perry said.

“I didn’t think much during it, but afterwards I’m glad I did. I would do it again every time. Last thing anybody needs to do is bury their child, take their kid to the hospital, or even a parent — they were everywhere.”

The video shows Perry grappling with the man holding the weapon, restraining his arms as others rushed to separate the fighters.

Voices can be heard in the footage shouting, “Let it go!” and “Stop fighting!” while fair staff and bystanders worked to break up the melee.

Melissa Keefe, director of marketing and communications for the Alaska State Fair, released a statement acknowledging Perry’s actions.

“The Alaska State Fair commends the civilian for his actions to assist CMS in disarming the individual. His actions were heroic,” she said.

Keefe also noted that “the actions of several unarmed CMS staff who took action to de-escalate the physical altercations taking place simultaneously during the incident should also be commended.”

The footage captured the chaotic nature of the scene, with several individuals slipping on wet pavement as they attempted to separate the combatants.

The video also shows the man with the gun appearing to try to cock the weapon before Perry restrained him.

Some of the fighters attempted to continue the altercation even as others intervened, but the weapon was secured before any shots were fired.

Following the incident, Perry told KTUU that he hoped others would remain aware of how quickly situations can escalate in public places.

“People need to be aware [that] things go wrong at any minute, no matter where you are. It’s not okay for that to happen — at all. That should not have happened in the first place, but people do need to be aware that this is the thing that happens,” Perry said.

He added, “We’re in an age where this is common. And it saddens me, it does, no matter what kind of gun control or gun laws are put out there, this will happen.”

As of now, authorities have not confirmed whether any of the individuals involved in the fight were arrested, nor have they released information on what initially sparked the confrontation.

The fair continued operations after the incident, with organizers reiterating their commitment to maintaining safety for attendees.

The quick actions of Perry and the assistance of fair staff ensured that the fight did not escalate into a deadly shooting, drawing attention from across the state as the video circulated widely online.

The investigation into the altercation remains ongoing.
