Home Office Splashing £9.2 Million on 300 ‘Emotionally Resilient’ Asylum Decision Makers
The Home Office is splashing out on 300 new ‘Asylum Decision Makers’, offering a salary of £30,000 to £31,500 a year – plus a 28.97% gold-plated pension contribution – to plough through the backlog of asylum claims. That’s a combined average salary cost of £9.225 million a year. The Home Office asks those thinking of applying if they have the following ‘key’ skills:
- Are you inquisitive? The role requires getting to grips with policy and guidance including a lot of reading. Do you enjoy individual learning and formulating arguments/decisions based on extensive research? Do you like getting into the detail, often drawing on information from a wide range of resources?
- Are you emotionally resilient?
- Can you remain empathetic and professional whilst dealing with potentially traumatised individuals on a daily basis?
- Can you process information and work at pace? Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a high-quality customer service?
- Are you IT literate and able to multi-task?
The ad is also at pains to state that “equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of Asylum Operations”, along with offering lucky recruits flexibility for home-based working. Applications close May 19. Gold star for applying…
