A surveillance camera captured a scene straight from a slapstick film when nine suspects emerged from a single Hyundai Sonata during an early morning break-in at a Virginia vape shop in October.
The bizarre footage from Accolades Vape and Tobacco in Warrenton shows the silver sedan backing into a parking spot around 3:30 a.m. Two suspects climbed out of the trunk before the group smashed through a window and raided the store, according to a video shared by the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects allegedly made off with approximately $13,000 worth of merchandise, including smoking accessories, designer sneakers and clothing. They also allegedly stole Pokémon cards and the store’s cash register before fleeing the scene, Fox 5 reported Wednesday. The store owner said insurance will not cover the losses.
Fauquier County authorities continue to hunt the suspects nearly a month after the crime. The investigation has expanded beyond the single incident, with deputies now tracking connections to similar burglaries across the region. “The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the other jurisdictions to end this criminal spree and ensure they all face justice,” spokesperson Jeffrey Long said Thursday, according to WUSA9.
Law enforcement agencies across neighboring jurisdictions are now collaborating to identify and apprehend the suspects before they strike again.
The coordinated response seeks to end the criminal spree, with investigators believing the crew could be connected to other similar crimes in the area.
The Daily Caller has reached out to Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office for comment but has not heard back as of publication.
