“… I almost feel bad for her …”

The former NCAA swimmer turned conservative activist has come face-to-face with the outrage mob and lived to tell the tale. Now, as the Olympic gymnast reaped what she sowed for having slammed Gaines as “truly sick” for standing up for girls’ and women’s sports, the comments section signaled the public was well beyond letting gender ideology skate by unaddressed.
“To acknowledge how the public has shifted to this, again look at Simone Biles’ comments section,” Gaines remarked on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” with OutKick founder Clay Travis, “go on Instagram, go on Twitter, go on any article that’s being posted, go on TikTok and she is getting absolutely demolished to the point where I almost feel bad for her, like I really do.”
“I read these comments, I’m like ‘oh my gosh.’ I was prepared when I got that notification on my phone for that onslaught of hatred to come towards me. Like, I was like, ‘Oh gosh, she’s gonna send all of her little minion people who follow her over to my page.’ That is not at all what is happening,” continued the former college athlete. “I haven’t read a single negative comment about myself following this interaction.”
As had been covered, Gaines reacted to news that the Minnesota Class AAAA Softball State Championship had been won by a team with a boy by calling out that the comments had been turned off and the victory was of little surprise.
In response, Biles asserted, “You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”
While the gymnast faced outcry over her position, including some brutal messages from XX-XY Athletics, Gaines reminded Travis that, “This happened in five states — Minnesota, California, Washington, Oregon and Maine — where boys stole state qualifying spots, state championships or podium spots from deserving, hard-working girls … So, the whole ‘it doesn’t really happen’ argument, it can’t stand at all when it continues to happen.”

“But that’s the classic progression … it never really happened. Then it slowly shifts to, ‘Okay, well, it is happening, but it’s not happening a lot. Therefore, we shouldn’t be concerned,’” she went on. “Then it progresses to, ‘Okay, well, it’s happening, and here’s why it’s a good thing that it’s happening.’ And then the final stage of it is, ‘It’s happening, it’s a good thing, and you’re going to accept it — or else.’”
Adding her own voice in support of Gaines, former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick shared on her social media, “This issue has a shelf life. I truly believe common sense will prevail. But until then, I am grateful for people like Riley Gaines who are making sure no one gets away with it. Not to mention the fact that she actually lived it.”
“Defending men in women’s sports is the woke mind virus and/or another issue that requires therapy. Either way, it is so irrational,” she added.
