‘I Belong To Jesus’: Cody Gakpo Has One Of Most Glorious Goal Celebrations En Route To Winning Premier League Title

We have an overnight legend on our hands, ladies and gentlemen!

After scoring a goal that eventually led to Liverpool winning the Premier League championship, forward Cody Gakpo took off his shirt to reveal another one with an absolutely glorious message: “I belong to Jesus.”

Heading into Sunday, Liverpool only needed to get one point against Tottenham Hotspur to win their 20th Premier League championship all-time to tie Manchester United for the most. Spurs forward Dominic Solanke was looking to threaten that with an early goal, but the Reds shot back to ultimately lead them to victory. Tottenham’s advantage only lasted four minutes as Liverpool forward Luis Diaz equalized things with a VAR-checked poke. After that, the Reds put themselves on top as midfielder Alexis Mac Allister hit a strike, knocking the ball into the corner of the net from the box’s edge.

That’s when Gakpo came into the picture, hitting his goal to give Liverpool a 3-1 lead to take advantage of horrid defense from Spurs to get the ball into the corner past Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Instantly, Gakpo took off his shirt in celebration, and revealed a message in the process: “I belong to Jesus.”

Gakpo was given a yellow card by official Tom Bramall for the celebration, but with how glorious it was, who cares!

Truly one of the most incredible celebrations I’ve ever seen — Jesus and championships mix well.
