I struggle to hear people in the prayer meeting, and sometimes the preaching. What can we do?
I would encourage you, first, to make sure that you yourself are not a part of the problem. Assuming that you would be able to hear under the right circumstances, put yourself in the best place. I have often seen people sitting in the distant corners of a building, or on the back row, and then complaining that they cannot hear.
The best thing you can do – and it makes any further concern more credible, too – is to sit where you can best hear the preaching and the praying. If you need to, get your hearing checked, and make sure that you have hearing aids, if they are useful. If you can, look at the people who are speaking, as it might help with your understanding, even if you cannot read lips.
