‘I don’t drink out of a straw, brother’

Fox News producer and man-on-the-street Johnny Belisario was on Capitol Hill, querying members of the House and Senate about host Jesse Watters’ proposed “rules for men.”

The rules came during a critique of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and included men not drinking out of straws, as Belisario informed Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN).

“I don’t drink out of a straw, brother. That’s what the women in my house do,” Burchett replied, stamping his man card.

“I have rules for men,” Watters said during a segment on The Five. “They’re just funny, they’re not that serious. Like, you don’t eat soup in public. You don’t cross your legs. And you don’t drink from a straw. And one of the reasons you don’t drink from a straw is the way your lips purse. It’s very effeminate.”

“His excuse was, ‘Well, I was drinking a milkshake,’” Watters said of Walz. “Again, you shouldn’t be drinking a milkshake. Milkshakes are for kids.”

Another Watters rule for men is “don’t wave simultaneously with two hands.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) were also asked about Watters’ rules for men.

“Jesse Watters has rules for men. He said men should not have male best friends. What do you think?” Belisario asked Cruz.

“Jesse needs a friend,” Cruz joked.

Hawley was asked about men crossing their legs and replied, “Whatever Jesse says is good with me.”

Sen. John Kennedy was asked if he had a message for Watters, and replied: “Pay his taxes. I knew him when he was poor. That’s how long I’ve known Watters.”

“He says men shouldn’t eat soup in public. What do you think of that?” Balisario asked in a follow up.

“A man shouldn’t eat kale at all. You know the best way to prepare kale? You mix a little olive oil in with the kale, that way it slides out of the pan very easily into the garbage,” the GOP senator quipped.
