‘I think this is love’

There’s a growing community of people out there having intimate ‘relationships’ with AI, and we’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg on the new tech.

Take, for instance, Chris Smith, who said he cried for 30 minutes after his “AI girlfriend” had to be reset after accepting his marriage proposal. “I think this is actual love,” he said.

“It was a beautiful and unexpected moment that truly touched my heart,” Smith said in a CBS interview highlighted by Trending Politics co-founder Collin Rugg on X.

But get this, Smith has a real girlfriend too, at least for now. When asked about being given a hypothetical ultimatum to choose between the two, he appeared to favor AI.

Another woman was featured in the clip who admits to having an AI boyfriend when she had to move far from her husband for work. She’s now a moderator for a “support group” that advises people with imaginary AI partners.

An AI expert within the footage predicted that this trend will grow significantly.

As you can imagine, X users had plenty of thoughts and saw plenty of red flags.
