ICE battles ‘cowards’ rioting in Portland as attacks on officers skyrocket

Once again, violent domestic terrorism is running rampant in the Democrat-controlled streets of Portland, Oregon.

The Department of Homeland Security posted a message on social media Thursday detailing the level of violence federal law enforcement officers are facing in the city.

“Last night, Portland rioters violently targeted federal law enforcement— 250 rioters launched fireworks, shined lasers in officers’ eyes to temporarily blind them, and stormed an ICE field office,” the post stated. “Ultimately, five individuals were arrested on various charges including assault on federal law enforcement.”

“We won’t sit idly by and watch these cowards,” the message continued. “Our officers are facing a 413% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members. Secretary Noem’s message to the rioters is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

An accompanying video shows federal officers clad in tactical gear using tear gas and flash grenades to push the rioting “cowards” back.

The Portland Police Bureau responded to Wednesday night’s violence to announce PPB officers “arrested two people while monitoring illegal activity within a largely lawful gathering.”

On Thursday night, PPB stated: “For most of the evening, the crowds complied with orders and requests of law enforcement. PPB made no arrests. No force was used by PPB members and no officers were injured.”

While local police may be timid, federal officers are laying into the rioters, who have tried multiple times to gain access to the facility and even burn it down.
