A violent illegal migrant with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel has been arrested in Connecticut after reentering the United States for the third time following two previous deportations, federal officials confirmed Tuesday, as reported by The New York Post.
Orlando Diaz-Cebada, a member of the Los Pochos gang—a group involved in narcotics trafficking on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel—was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in coordination with federal partners.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Diaz-Cebada is wanted in Mexico for the brutal murder of a police officer.

McLaughlin emphasized that ICE will continue pursuing violent offenders who cross into the United States illegally.
“These are the types of barbaric criminal illegal aliens our brave ICE law enforcement risks their lives every day to arrest. America is no longer a safe haven for violent criminals. If you are a criminal illegal alien considering entering America illegally, don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States.”
Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant for Diaz-Cebada on April 23, 2024, accusing him of fatally beating a Mexican government official, identified as a police officer.
DHS reports that Diaz-Cebada was initially deported from the United States on May 22, 2024, after entering the country illegally. Just two days later, he attempted to reenter the U.S. and was deported again.
Despite these removals, he managed to cross the border a third time, successfully evading detection before being located and apprehended in Connecticut.
Officials confirmed that Diaz-Cebada is currently being held in ICE custody and is expected to be deported from the U.S. for a third time.
His arrest comes as immigration enforcement officials continue to track and apprehend criminal non-citizens who repeatedly exploit the border system and seek refuge in sanctuary jurisdictions.
