Idaho River Search For Floating ‘Deceased Female’ Ends With Shocking Twist After Hours of Panic [WATCH]

A reported sighting of a human body floating in the Blackfoot River prompted a three-hour emergency response by Caribou County deputies on Thursday morning, only for authorities to discover the object was a life-size sex doll, as reported by The New York Post.

According to Caribou County Sheriff Adam Mabey, the report came in from an individual who believed they had seen human remains in the river approximately 16 miles from Soda Springs.

The sheriff’s office immediately launched a full-scale response, deploying a drone and dispatching a search-and-rescue team into the river to locate what was presumed to be a deceased individual.

“When my team went in and pulled it out of the water, that’s when they realized it was just a life-size companion doll,” Mabey told East Idaho News.

The female doll appeared to have been in the river for an extended period, but authorities have not determined how it got there. Sheriff Mabey indicated that if the person responsible for dumping the doll is identified, they could face charges for illegal dumping or littering.

The sheriff acknowledged the incident had quickly become a topic of public interest online. “This whole story has generated a lot of jokes and stories and really interesting Facebook comments,” he said.

Despite the outcome, Mabey stood by the department’s decision to fully respond. “I was hoping it’d blow over and no one would ever hear about it … but I can also see it’s an interesting story,” he added. “I’d rather go all out and find it’s nothing than risk ignoring something real.”

The Caribou County Sheriff’s Office did not issue a formal press release and did not respond to further media inquiries regarding the incident.

The area near Soda Springs is sparsely populated and known for its outdoor recreation areas. Incidents requiring search-and-rescue operations in remote rivers or backcountry terrain are not uncommon, though they rarely end with such an unusual discovery.

As of now, the identity of the caller who reported the object has not been released, and no suspects have been identified in connection with the discarded doll.
