Illegal Alien Charged With Murder After Allegedly Shoving Elderly Veteran Onto Subway Tracks

Officials charged an illegal alien from Honduras after an elderly veteran he allegedly shoved onto the New York subway tracks died.

Bairon Hernandez, 34, faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with the March 8 incident, according to ABC 7 Eyewitness News. He is accused of attacking 83-year-old veteran of the Air Force Richard Williams as well as a 30-year-old man. Police said the attack occurred at 11:39 p.m., and no train was entering the station at the time, FOX 5 New York reported. The New York Police Department (NYPD)’s Crime Stoppers Division said Hernandez allegedly pushed Williams from behind in a post on X.

Williams suffered bleeding in the brain, which required surgery, but doctors determined there was no activity in his brain afterward, according to FOX 5. Williams was placed on life support, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, according to ABC 7.

Police arrested Hernandez, and a court arraigned him on assault-related charges on March 11, FOX 5 reported. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Williams’ passing was a homicide on March 25. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the suspect has been deported from the U.S. four times in a March 12 press release. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer against Hernandez following the alleged attack.

“Bairon Posada-Hernandez is a serial criminal, and four-time deported illegal alien from Honduras who should never have been able to walk our streets and harm innocent Americans,” DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said.

Hernandez entered the U.S. in 2008, was deported four times between then and 2020, and has 15 previous charges, according to DHS. He was previously found guilty in New Jersey of entering the country illegally and convicted again in Texas for re-entering against the law, according to ABC 7.

Jhon Rodriguez, the 30-year-old man who was also allegedly attacked, told CBS News New York that Williams injured his head, began bleeding, and faded from consciousness. Rodriguez said he safely moved Williams onto the subway platform before the next train arrived with another man’s aid.

Hernandez is set to be arraigned again on March 30, ABC 7 reported.
