Illinois Dem gov advocates denying ‘peace’ to political opponents

Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is doing his best Maxine Waters impression, calling for denying “peace” to Republicans and specifically President Donald Trump.

According to The New York Times, Pritzker was speaking to a room of “top New Hampshire Democrats” when he called for the party members to engage in disruptive behavior to deny “peace” to his political opponents. The statement prompted an enthusiastic response from the gathered audience.

“It’s time to fight everywhere and all at once,” he reportedly said. “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.”

Perhaps Pritzker really is trying to raise his political profile in anticipation of a presidential bid? As Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported, the billionaire governor was even considered by Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential team as a potential running mate, before opting for Tim Walz instead.

“In recent weeks, the 60-year-old has intensified his attacks on the White House, adding to his long history of fiercely opposing Trump. Pritzker blasted the Trump administration’s policies at a Chicago community event last week, claiming the president ‘wants to cut life-saving programs.’ On April 9, Pritzker tore at Trump’s economic policies while speaking to high school members of the Future Farmers of America in Springfield, Illinois, referencing trade with Canada and Mexico being harmed through ‘a self-inflicted trade war,’” the organization reported.

Chicago Dem Bill Daley has “no doubt” that Pritzker is positioning himself for a White House bid.

“There is no doubt that he is going to run,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “The real question is whether he runs for re-election first or just runs for president.”

But a high-profile political run will come with difficulty. As Americans vet the candidates, things like federal investigations into the candidates are sure to come out. Pritzker himself has been the target of such a probe after he “allegedly used toilets to avoid taxes.”
