Democrat New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver gave a word salad response Friday on MSNBC after host Ari Melber asked her point blank if border czar Tom Homan lied when he accused her of “shoving” an officer.
Federal prosecutors charged McIver on May 19 for assaulting law enforcement officers during a chaotic scene outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in New Jersey. While discussing her charges on “The Beat With Ari Melber,” Melber played an interview between him and Homan. Homan was heard accusing McIver of shoving an officer. “First of all, I disagree with everything that he’s saying. That’s why there was a long pause when you asked him would they win the case because I don’t think he even understands what happened that day,” McIver said.

“It’s been a lot of information that’s come out of his mouth that wasn’t factual, from the point of, like, we didn’t get a tour to we did get a tour. Just all of the different things that he was saying,” McIver added. “So I disagree with everything that he’s saying. The bottom line is we’re gonna go to court. All of the facts are gonna come out. They’re gonna be on my side when it gets to that point.”
In May, Democrat New Jersey Reps. McIver, Robert Menendez and Bonnie Watson Coleman made their way to the Delaney Hall facility for a scheduled tour. While waiting outside the facility, Democrat Newark Mayor Ras Baraka attempted to join the group, leading to his arrest as well as a chaotic scene in front of the detention hall.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) accused the group of storming the gate as a detention bus attempted to enter. According to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, McIver is accused of having “assaulted, impeded, and interfered with law enforcement.”
Since the incident, McIver has dismissed the accusations against her, telling CNN days after the incident that there is “no video” that supports claims she body slammed herself into an officer.
