INSIDER: Mamdani cries Islamophobia, insults the memory of 9/11 victims as voters head to the polls

Much like being black immunized Barack Obama from criticism, so will New York City mayor-in-waiting Zohran Mamdani’s Muslim faith serve as a protective shield.

The debates are over, and the anti-Mamdani contingent has chosen to cast their lot with tainted savior Andrew Cuomo as their man on the white horse. Now, the future of Gotham is up to the voters.

As polls opened for early voting, the Ugandan-born Democrat urged New Yorkers to take a stand against Islamophobia, posting a video to social media cribbing from Dr. King in a call for voters to back him, because it’s time to fulfill the dream.

The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker.

And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows.

“The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker. And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows,” the candidate proclaimed in the Saturday post. “No more.”

It’s both a curious closing pitch as well as a testament of how much the Big Apple has changed in the quarter of a century since a group of Mamdani’s fellow Muslims used jet airliners as missiles to destroy the World Trade Center, murdering nearly 3,000 people.

Mamdani’s video appeal came after he unbelievably suggested that Allah worshippers were the true victims of 9/11 when he declared that his aunt did not feel safe riding the subway in her hijab after the attacks – presumably while the smell of the rotting flesh of the innocent victims in the twin towers was still hanging in the lower Manhattan air – during a speech about Islamophobia at a mosque in the Bronx.

Before al Qaeda was successful in taking down the WTC, another Islamist plot failed to do the trick eight years earlier, and the budding Democrat superstar burnished his cred with the Muslim street in New York City by appearing with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, whom he touted as “one of the nation’s foremost Muslim leaders.”

Mamdani left out the pertinent detail that Wahhaj is also an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the 1993 bombing, which killed six people.

Talk about spitting on the graves of 9/11 victims.

Mamdani’s playing of the Islamophobia card isn’t for the normies, but intended to energize the third-worlders who now call the Big Apple home, as well as the Israel-hating leftists, the type who turned Columbia University, the city’s Ivy League outpost, into a teeming hive of anti-Semitism.

Feeding their enthusiasm will juice early turnout, and the AOC-Bernie Sanders get-out-the-vote effort will be critical to closing the deal that will hand the keys to the city to Mamdani and his wrecking crew.

Nothing would make Osama bin Laden prouder than radical Islam claiming the nation’s premier city as the capital of the Democrat communist caliphate. A scenario that would have been inconceivable two decades ago.

In just over a week, America will find out if the terrorists have won.
