INSIDER: The surest sign yet that Dems are preparing to deploy their new Obama

While Democratic Governors Gavin Newsom and JB Pritzker make asses of themselves by publicly jousting with President Trump, the real player is quietly being groomed for the party’s top spot.

On a holiday weekend when the grotesque leftist version of Laurel and Hardy took turns trying to one-up themselves with attacks on the president over this crackdown on crime, Maryland Governor Wes Moore was basking in the Italian sun as a guest of activist actor George Clooney, lounging shirtless on the deck of the Hollywood power player’s luxury yacht on Lake Como.

Not that violent crime isn’t a problem in his own state where its largest city of Baltimore is a fixture on the list of the nation’s highest murder rates, it’s just that the telegenic governor knows that he doesn’t have to sully himself like the two attention whores with White House dreams but who don’t have anything close to the genuine appeal of someone like him and Moore will literally have the stars aligned behind him.

A military veteran around whom the Democrat imagemakers could craft a bogus narrative of hope just like they did with Barack Obama, a man who Clooney worships as though he walks on water, Moore’s presence on Clooney’s yacht is the surest sign yet that the young governor is the party’s stealth candidate, one who will easily be able to tap into high-rolling left coast leftists and the Hollywood elite who were badly burned when they financially backed Joe Biden and were left holding the bag with Kamala Harris.

It’s not clear whether the “Ocean’s Eleven” star was onboard the yacht to personally schmooze with the new Obama, but he’s on record as having previously slobbered all over him.

Clooney’s hosting of Moore on his yacht could also be a hint at Mr. Obama’s mindset in that he likely sees the Maryland governor as the chosen one to rescue his legacy after Kamala’s humiliating faceplant on the big stage. After all, it was the lifelong Democrat actor who did the former president’s dirty work by shivving the decrepit Biden in the ribs with his New York Times op-ed last year, the greenlight for the Code Red on the party’s incumbent leader and presumptive nominee.

It’s hard to imagine similar treatment being extended by the Hollywood elite to Pritzker, with the slob being a gross eyesore on Clooney’s yacht. The governor may be a billionaire, but he’s still a crass, fat pig and hardly a man who would be very appealing to the Tinseltown crowd, let alone the general electorate. Same with Newsom, who is the most ridiculous political figure in America today and is merely serving his purpose as a lightning rod until the party bosses see fit to launch Obama v.2.

There is the Harris problem with the failed candidate and ex-veep looking for another bite of the apple despite her embarrassing loss last year, but let’s face it, Kamala’s not going to be it. Perhaps a plum position like a Supreme Court seat could be dangled as a sweetener if she stays out, and when it comes to a DEI pick, she couldn’t possibly be any worse than Ketanji Brown Jackson.

“While Maryland residents try to escape dangerous criminals in their communities, Gov. Wes Moore is attempting to escape any accountability for the out-of-control crime in his state by fleeing to Italy for a luxury getaway with Democrat elites,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement. “Gov. Moore needs to get his priorities straight – instead of taking yacht vacations or fantasizing about his 2028 presidential bid, he needs to make Maryland safe again.”

Moore already has seemingly put one major scandal behind him, his lying about receiving a Bronze Star, one of the military’s highest honors, and the media will dutifully provide cover going forward. Kissing Clooney’s ring should make Moore the odds-on favorite to be standing at the podium to accept his party’s nomination at the 2028 convention.
