Fox News correspondent Lucas Tomlinson provided an update on Iran’s military capabilities and the status of ongoing operations involving U.S. and Israeli forces, outlining developments related to missile ranges, air defenses, and recent military activity.
Tomlinson said recent intelligence and battlefield developments indicate that Iran’s missile capabilities extend beyond previously stated limits. He stated, “Diego Garcia a long way from the stated ranges of Iran’s missiles.” He added, “Remember, it’s just a few years ago. The late Ayatollah said they don’t have any missiles that go this far.”
He said officials now believe earlier claims about missile range were inaccurate, stating, “So officials say it’s very clear he was lying, as well as other Iranian officials.”

Tomlinson provided geographic context, saying, “Diego Garcia, 4000 kilometers away for Charlie, let’s put this in miles, about 2500 miles.”
He continued, “And previously Iran said their missiles only go 2000 kilometers, or about 1300 miles.”
Tomlinson said the current conflict has demonstrated that Iran retains certain strike capabilities, stating, “So clearly this demonstrates that three weeks into this war, Iran still has some ability to launch some ballistic missiles.”
He added, “And apparently some ballistic missiles that nobody knew they had, perhaps the CIA and Mossad as well.”

He also addressed the broader scope of military operations, noting, “But President Trump says he thinks this war is starting to wind down.”
Tomlinson added, “After more than 15,000 missions between the United States and Israeli Air Forces striking over 8000 targets across Iran.”
Tomlinson described the use of U.S. aircraft in ongoing operations, stating, “And now we have the venerable a 10 warthog, that 50 year old war horse running strafing missions along the coastline against those small boats associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
He added, “A 10 with that 30 millimeter cannon that shoots depleted uranium shells.”
He referenced earlier strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, stating, “Probably only uranium the Trump administration wants to see in Iran after those strikes you mentioned on the towns and the nuclear sites.”
He continued, “And recall, during midnight hammer, those nuclear sites were hit.”
Tomlinson said officials had anticipated these phases of the operation, stating, “Officials say this was always going to be part of the latter stages the war.”
He added, “Those nuclear sites don’t shoot back, of course. Had to take out the air defense systems, had to take out ballistic missiles.”
He noted assessments from the Pentagon regarding Iran’s defensive capabilities, stating, “Which the Pentagon insists are down 90%.”
However, he also pointed to continued activity from Iran, stating, “Although I should mention that Iran able to launch about 60 drones in Saudi Arabia earlier today.”
Tomlinson added that defensive systems across multiple regions had been activated, stating, “And overnight back in the United States, Kuwait and here in the Emirates, air defense systems were active.”
