Leftists in the media have issued some seriously bad takes on the Gaza War, but CNN’s Christiane Amanpour’s may take the cake.
Since the shocking attack on an Israeli music festival on October 7, two years ago, Israeli hostages have been deprived of any way to contact their families. They have been held by Hamas terrorists as bargaining chips, with many dying in captivity as they were denied basic human needs. Now, the world is watching as 20 of the hostages are released, with another 28 presumed to be dead and their remains still in the possession of Hamas.
And despite this victory for Israel that is exposing the cruelty of terrorists, Amanpour can’t help but let her bias show:
I don’t know how @amanpour, whose reportage I once respected, even has a job at @CNN or anywhere else after making an editorial comment like this:
Israeli hostages have “probably been treated better than the average Gazan because they are the pawns & the chips that Hamas had.” pic.twitter.com/Csy3N0mqsg— David Webber (@DavidWebber) October 13, 2025
“I pretty much can assure you that once those doors are opened, it will be a scene of absolute, abject horror. And I think for sure, people who start to talk to the hostages who have only just been released, will find that it will take a long, long time for them to recover physically, but also mentally. It’s been a terrible, terrible two years for them, because not only are they there — you know, they’re probably being treated better than the average Gazan, because they are the pawns and the chips that Hamas had. Now, Hamas has given up all of its leverage, by the way, by giving them all up. So that is a victory for the Israeli side,” the veteran journalist said. “But they will have had so much horror and terror as well, because they were also in the war zone, many of them underground, we understand.”
Special envoy to President Donald Trump Richard Grenell responded to her comments on X:
. @CNN’s @amanpour just said that the Israeli hostages were treated better than other people.
She’s literally pro-Hamas.
You can feel how mad she is with the release of hostages by Trump.
And she says “The Abraham Accords aren’t peace deals”.
She’s a sick woman.

Other users also responded to her questionable choice of words:
That’s a hell of a take, considering so many of the hostages are dead.

I refuse to allow @CNN @kaitlancollins amplifying the terror simp @amanpour from robbing us of our joy today.

Unbelievably vile and depraved!
Hamas brutally murdered the Kfir toddlers and their mother with their bare hands and mutilated their bodies to fake death by air strike!
Hostages were subject to psychological torture besides physical abuse!
Shame on you @amanpour!

Don’t know what the big deal is….don’t you know it’s the height of fashion to minimize digusting things done to Jews.
