‘It makes me want to puke’ – Dave Portnoy disgusted by young Dems’ embrace of socialism

Barstool’s Dave Portnoy isn’t mincing words when it comes to young leftists’ whole-hearted embrace of socialism.

Portnoy joined Fox Business on Monday, where he shredded college-age youth who succumb to the belief that socialism and politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and NYC mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani are the future of the Democratic Party.

“It makes me want to puke,” he told host Stuart Varney. “These are college kids. They’ve never had probably had a job in their lives. They’ve grown up probably coddled, reading books about how the world is, but they’ve never been in the real world. I don’t like any government where [it has] disincentivized initiative [or] working hard, and that’s what socialism does.”

“I’m all for taking care of people and giving back,” he explained. “But you know what entrepreneurs do? They create jobs, they create livings, they create wages. I just fundamentally [believe] socialism doesn’t work. There are plenty of examples…”

“And I just have a hard time being lectured by a 19- or 20-year-old who’s never had a day of real-world experience,” he continued. “I can’t have someone who’s been alive for five seconds telling me how the world works. I just can’t do it.”

The leftward lean of the Democratic Party was largely unpopular in 2024, as Republicans claimed control of the White House as well as both chambers of Congress, albeit by a thin margin. It is believed this was a rejection of the policies affecting Americans, such as DEI, lack of border enforcement and inflation. As a result, Democrats have spent several months attempting to craft a new political identity that will resonate with voters, but this has also inspired the younger, louder members of their party such as AOC, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Mamdani and others to speak up in an attempt to steer the party forward.
