Jaguars’ Liam Coen Gets Sweetest Of Revenge With Brilliant ‘Small Market’ Clapback Against Broncos’ Sean Payton

At this point, Liam Coen has to be the coolest head coach in the NFL.

Although Coen is in his first season as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he’s showing no hesitation in standing his ground against veteran Denver Broncos skipper Sean Payton.

Before their Week 16 game, Payton gave what sounded like a patronizing nod to the “small market” Jags, and Coen converted those comments into motivational firepower.

After securing a commanding 34-20 win against Denver, Coen celebrated the triumph by repeatedly highlighting the “small market” label in the locker room and during his postgame press conference. The atmosphere in Jacksonville’s locker room was buzzing with energy. As the players came together, several still clutched their belts from moments earlier when they had chanted “Belt to ass!” right before their head coach addressed the team.

Coen kicked off his victory speech with a sharp, sarcastic opener: “We’re just a small market team …”

In his postgame media session, Coen made a direct reference to Payton’s comments.

“Just grateful that a small market team like us can come into a place like Mile High and get it done,” said Coen following his team’s win.
