Jamaica Already Suffering Massive Damage Ahead Of Hurricane Melissa Landfall

Hurricane Melissa is maintaining its intensity as a monstrous high-tier Category 5 hurricane just hours ahead of a forecasted landfall Tuesday that is expected to devastate Jamaica.

According to an announcement Monday evening from The Ministry of Health & Wellness in Jamaica, the Caribbean nation has already seen three deaths related to Melissa. (RELATED: Tens Of Thousands Of Birds Trapped In Eye Of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa)

Jamaica has also seen damage ahead of the storm, including fallen trees, power flashes and serious flooding.

Footage from local newspaper Jamaica Observer shows strong winds in Devon, Manchester that had blown down a huge tree, while the power flash, which was caught on camera, took place in Christiana, Manchester.

Another power flash was seen on video out of Mountainside, St. Elizabeth, with a local providing the footage to the Daily Caller.

Local news outlet Jamaica Gleaner published video of significant flooding going on in Port Royal, Kingston.

ā€œResidents of Queen and Broad streets in Port Royal, Kingston, are sheltering in place after overnight rainfall left the area flooded, as Hurricane Melissa lingers off Jamaica’s south coast,ā€ posted the outlet.
