James Comer to question Biden senior staff in new Autopen probe

Concerns about who was calling the shots during the Biden administration had the chair of the House Oversight Committee probing staffers with questionable ties about the autopen.

Amid the release of audio of then-President Joe Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur that highlighted the cognitive issues of the Democrat leader, the House GOP is furthering its investigation into the cover-up of his condition. As he decried those who propped up the man “unfit to lead,” Kentucky Rep. James Comer (R) revealed which senior staffers he sought answers from “involved in any role in the use of the autopen.”

Friday, the Oversight chair joined a predecessor on the committee, former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R), who was filling in for Fox News host Sean Hannity. Naming names in the effort to determine “Who was really running the Biden White House?” Comer asserted, “We think we’ve identified who the staffers are …We’re going to bring everyone that we believe was involved in any role in the use of the autopen. We’re gonna invite them to come in for a transcribed interview if they want, then they will receive a subpoena.”

In addition to Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden and former White House deputy assistant Ashley Williams, Comer named former director of Oval Office operations Annie Tomasini and Jill Biden’s senior adviser, Anthony Bernal. Both had previously been highlighted among White House officials tied to Hunter Biden.

“So, we’re looking at the senior officials and don’t rule out Hunter Biden. He spent a lot of time in the Oval Office in the last three months,” the congressman told Chaffetz, as Bernal, Tomasini and Williams had each been subpoenaed previously. Also sought was a transcribed interview with Biden’s White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor.

In his statement announcing the latest on the investigation, Comer faulted the former administration, corporate media and lawmakers alike as he expressed, “The American people deserve to know who was actually calling the shots in the Biden White House because it wasn’t Joe Biden. His mental decline was obvious to anyone paying attention. But instead of being honest, the Biden Administration, Democrats in Congress, and the legacy media lied and covered it up. They gaslit the American people while propping up a man who was unfit to lead.”

In supporting claims of cover-up, the Kentucky legislator shared committee remarks from ranking member Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin (D) opposing the release of audio of Biden’s interview with Hur.

“Democrats told you the Biden Hur audio tapes didn’t matter,” stated Comer. “Democrats told you Special Counsel Robert Hur was interfering in an election. Democrats told you over and over that Joe Biden was ‘sharp.’ The cover-up of Joe’s mental decline is a scandal of historic proportions.”

The congressman went on to argue in his statement, “Key decisions made in the final days of the Biden presidency, including using autopens to issue blanket pardons for the Biden Crime Family, must be fully examined. There are serious concerns that President Biden lacked the mental capacity to authorize those actions. The American people are done being lied to. We’re going to bring the truth into the light, and starting next week, those involved in the cover-up will begin to be put on notice.”

Late last month, President Donald Trump spoke to the severity of the alleged autopen scandal, as it pertained to the pardons that had been issued as Biden closed out his term.

“The USA is wise to these scoundrels and crooks,” said the president on Truth Social. “Also, why did the Auto Pen give [California Sen. Adam] Schiff a Pardon? Biden knew nothing about it. Who operated the Auto Pen? That is the biggest question being asked in D.C. They almost destroyed our Country. They should be in jail!!!“
